A Message from the Director

The practice of pharmacy has now come to a full-circle exemplifying the community pharmacist of yesteryear, who not only dispensed tablets and elixirs, but was also an integral part of a family's health care. Tomorrow will bring many new challenges. The profession is rapidly changing in response to environmental and societal factors such as longer life expectancy, increased number of drug prescriptions and a greater divide between economic classes. Our college is addressing these demands and looking further into the future to investigate emerging health care issues that are moving to the forefront.

We are committed to having our institute recognised as a national leader in pharmaceutical education for its professional pharmacy degree program. Thus, we strive to offer a curriculum that is challenging and on the cutting edge of knowledge, while at the same time offering personalised attention to our students in a warm and friendly atmosphere. We expect our students to view their education as a partnership between them and the members of the College faculty. As a part of education for any health-care professional, the responsibility of learning lies with the student. Faculty members serve as facilitators and encourage the educational process. Self-learning is an important skill to develop especially since the profession and drug therapies are changing rapidly.

It is only with the support from our faculty and students that we are able to further our work towards academic excellence, discovering new drugs and better ways to deliver them, thus serving the country with reliable pharmaceutical information and services, and graduating top-notch pharmacists ready to meet the needs of today's patients.
