| A message from the President |

 |
The world is getting smaller, and the need for global understanding is getting larger. Information technology has had a globalizing effect, knocking down many barriers. We can communicate 24 hours a day without regard to time zones; we can send information across national boundaries; and we can, with voice-recognition and speech-translation software, converse in languages that we do not even know.
In fact, the defining technologies of globalisation are computerisation, miniaturisation, digitalisation, fiber optics, and the Internet.
From a business perspective, global competition has been one of the most significant forces of change in the last decade. Large organisations have long operated internationally; however, even the days of small businesses operating only in their local markets with no thought of external competition are a feature of the past. |
Such businesses typically need to grow and widen their markets to survive. In order to achieve this, they now choose to compete internationally. A fundamental feature of the domestic and global economic environment is the push towards liberalisation. World over, economies have been opening up and are increasingly subjected to intense competition.
As a result you see increasing globalisation in the economies world over. The growing presence of multinationals in India today is a clear indication of that. This has resulted in an increased requirement of qualified managers all over the country and outside. This is true even more so in a city like Mumbai, which is arguably the Business Capital of the country. The idea of creating a school for management education stems from this very fact and thus HKIMSR came into being.
At HKIMSR, we strive to ensure that our graduates acquire knowledge and skills that can enhance and enrich their working lives, enabling them to make meaningful contributions to their organisations. As a consequence, organisations become more successful in meeting their goals and thus become enormous assets to their societies fostering greater productivity.
We look forward to making talented and responsible managers of you. It is time to make a difference and we want to be a part of it.
